NICOLAS COMBARRO

Nicolás Combarro (A Coruña, Spain, 1979) studied Arts in Media Studies in the Universidad Complutense in Madrid where he works as independent artist and curator.

 

As an artist he has worked on different commissioned projects as Resistance Architecture I for the Spanish Embassy in Paris and Resistance Architecture II in México DF as well as Born separated for the 42 International Artist Show in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia. In Spain he has worked on commissioned projects as Rests and Indices for LABoral Centro de Arte/VALEY in Asturias and Contemporary Archaeology for the Seoane Fondation in A Coruña He has made solo shows in museums and galleries as Taché and Moriarty Gallery in Spain, Kawhoon Gallery in Seúl, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Vigo or PALEXCO in A Coruña. He has been involved in international collective exhibitions as Puntos de Encuentro in CCBA, Buenos Aires or Fotografía española in Butzlab, Hamburg, also in international Art fairs as ARCO, CIRCA, Art Brussles or Photo Miami. He has received prices as the Saab Price in Photoespaña 08, or the First Price INJUVE 06. He has also made collaborative works as the realization of the video pieces of Alberto Garcia-Alix From Where There is no Return or Three Sad Videos showed in Reina Sophia Museum, Madrid; Palais de Tokio, Paris or UCCA, Beijing.

 

As a curator, he has worked on monographic projects for artists as Miguel Ángel Campano or Alberto García-Alix: Reina Sophia National Museum in Madrid, UCCA in Beijing, or MAAM in Moscow. He has teached and given lectures and workshops in France, México or Spain.
